Tennis

Centre Court Athletic Club’s Recreational Program is designed to be a fun high energy learning experience for tennis players. The emphasis for classes will be on quality instruction that will help our students improve their tennis games as well as a fun atmosphere that will let students of all ages enjoy their time on the court and look forward to the next lesson. Make-ups for missed classes will be limited to 2 per class per session and the front desk must be notified of the make-up at least 24 hrs ahead of time. Make-ups must be completed by the end of the session in which the student is enrolled. This is an effort to have the correct numbers of students in each class and to try to maintain the Pro:Student ratio as closely as possible. Pro:Student ratio is not guaranteed however all efforts will be made to have the correct number of students in each class.

Winter 1 Session: November 2 - January 21

No classes 11/4, 11/5, 11/23, or 12/22 - 1/5/18

Winter 2 Session: January 22 - March 25

Pre-registration begins 11/22, and ends on 1/15.

Red: 4 - 6 Years Old

Each 45-minute lesson will focus on introducing the game of tennis to our youngest participants through the use of fun and exciting activities. Our goal is to learn how to use our racquets and move around the tennis court.

Beginner: 7 - 9 Years Old

Each one-hour lesson will focus on introducing tennis to 7-9 year olds that are new to the game through the use of fun and exciting activities. Our goal is to learn how to use our racquets and move around the tennis court.

Intermediate: 7 - 9 Years Old

Learn the basics of a rally by being able to hit the ball back and forth over the net with a partner through the use of fun activities and games. We will emphasize the development of rally skills using both forehand and backhand ground strokes as well as introduce other tennis related skills such as serve return of serve and volleys.

Beginner: 10 - 12 Years Old

This lesson plan will introduce tennis to new players in this age level in a fun and efficient manner. We will focus on basic tennis skills grips fundamentals and techniques while also introducing basic court movements and positioning on all tennis-related strokes will be introduced and developed through instruction and fun age-appropriate games.

Intermediate: 10 - 12 years old

This lesson group focuses both learning and competing on the tennis court. We look to build on the continual development of rallying skills developing tactical and court positioning skills as well as more familiarity with singles and doubles play. We will introduce and emphasize the overhead serve as well as transition shots such as a slice backhand and approach shots. All this will be done in a fun, but competitive manner.

Advanced: 10 - 12 years old

We will continue to expand shot selection while looking to develop on-court to be used in point play situations. Technique will always be stressed and doubles play and strategy will be introduced. Participants reaching this level should be playing at least 1-2 additional times per week (lesson drill hitting session ball machine play pass etc.). This lesson will consist of both instruction and fun skill developing games with higher emphasis on point play.

Beginner: 13 - 18 years old

This lesson plan will introduce tennis to new players in this age level in a fun and efficient manner. We will focus on basic tennis skills grips fundamentals and techniques while also introducing basic court movements and positioning on all tennis-related strokes will be introduced and developed through instruction and fun age-appropriate games.

Intermediate: 13 - 18 years old

This 1.5 hour lesson continues to develop the basic tennis skills while expanding shot selections. We will focus on adding various spins improve consistency and add more direction to our ground strokes while developing transition shots correct volleying and serve grips and court positioning. This lesson will consist of instruction and fun skill developing games with some emphasis on point play.

Advanced: 10 - 18 years old

This 2-hour lesson will focus on preparing the participant for competition play whether individual tournaments or high school tennis. We will continue to expand shot selection while looking to develop on-court to be used in point play situations. Technique will always be stressed and doubles play and strategy will be introduced. Participants reaching this level should be playing at least 1-2 additional times per week (lesson drill hitting session ball machine play pass etc.). This lesson will consist of both instruction and fun skill developing games with higher emphasis on point play.

Adult Beginner: 18 years +

This lesson plan introduces tennis to new players while focusing on basic tennis fundamentals techniques and grips. There will be instructional feeding based drills as well as introduction to game play.

Adult Advanced: 18 years +

This class continues to develop basic tennis skills and techniques while beginning to add more emphasis on rallying and match playing abilities.
